Yes that is (in) solid state also.... but maybe you missed the meaning of solid state in audio 😉
Wow, I'd like to know more about this most simple ss design. Maybe I'd like to build some. How much power does it deliver? Tnx for sharing.Simplest possible 1-transistor amplifier (SE class A emitter follower with Sanken 2SA1102, Zout = 0.32 ohm).
Hi @Horneydude , thank you, there is a new thread about this BJT follower amplifier:

Nice work and interesting. I've been working on a sub amp with an E-waste case. The front and rear panels, base and top plates are made from aluminum recovered from a long retired Apple G5 Power Mac.Almost done with my E-waste sub amp
This stuff has a very nice anodized finish that looks great if you can get a Mac that hasn't been beat up too much.
The heatsinks were recovered from two old servo drives that were discarded at my job. These were ripped to width, painted and paired up to form the structural sides.
The angle brackets, handles, feet and screws are all that were purchased.
I made it 2RU high and 19" wide so it blends in nicely with the rest of my gear.
Now it's time for the inards.

It's the other way around. Those crude sledghammer amplifiers from your daddy are spoiled with the delicate signal coming from those work of arts. Mark always was always way ahead of Nelson you know...only Sissies are combining ML with Papamps

Happy New Year everyone.
I just posted this on ussa 5 build thread, but I would like to post it here as well.
I have finally finished my ussa 5.1 build.
The cases took a long time to build.
It's a dual mono build with:
400VA donuts.
LT4320 bridges.
120mF per rail ( crc ) ( 27 volt ).
1A bias for output.
xrk's ssr dc speaker protection.
Heatsink 300 X 40 H 210 mm ( 0.18° c/w ).
Soft start is in a separate box, common for both amplifiers.
With my 92dB test speakers ( Alpair 12p ) there is no sound of any kind at idle.
Cannot tell whether they are turned on or off.
They are quite compact and not so easy to work with but I'm quite pleased with the result.
They are still just burning in but the sound is quite promising. An easy swinger.

Beautifull executed.
I posted some pictures from old vintage stuff but now I understand it is for DIY amps and not for confection ones.
Sorry about that.
