Thanks skywayflies sure this will help and yes BA that would be good two anything you have would be a help.
Proxima Infocus ASK Sharp Cable
Not only fresh with the Multimeter, but a steady hand when soldering. I do this for a living, so I had to modified the tip of my iron and touch the side of the solder cup on the connector. It makes for a very clean joint, but takes a bit longer to heat with the narrow soldering tip.
Are the pics helpful? Sure wish I could figure out this link stuff. I know my HTML, but don't know how to get it to work here.

proxima power supply
If anyone is interested, I have a original proxima power supply that is missing the metal pins in the din plug. You still would have to get a din plug and do some soldering but when you're done you'd have a original power supply. I also have an atx one already made up for a proxima. Email me at Slizm@hotmail.com if interested.

Power Supply
Gee,s that would be great if I wasnt a million miles away lol.Anyway my problems continue got my panel in the post today looks the part managed to get a old pc power supply from the local tip for $5 hooked it all up and plugged in no go on the supply the fan doesnt even start.Opened the supply the fuse looks o.k dont know what to do another supply maybe?Any ideas would be appreciated.😕

To start with, power up the supply with your loads disconnected. If the fan still doesn't turn on in the supply, you have a bad supply or componant. Make sure your supply is a version that "does NOT" switch with a motherboard. If the fan does come on then check and double check your connections to make sure you have no shorts Don't try to combine separate output wires from the supply.
Hope I was of some help.

Power Supply
Thanks for the advice tried to power up without any connection still no fan.Not sure how to tell whether It requires mother board? The only odd wire from supply is labeled P.G? Orange wire. What did you mean by mixing the wires?
Cheers

I wasn't referring to mixing the wires as much as combining. I have seen supply's that if you say connected all or some the 5+ leads from it, very weird voltages and results sometimes occurred. Just use one of each lead you need and tape of the others that are not used. I am assuming that your supply is switched by the motherboard. For me when using a computer supply for other uses I have found the flat plug style (I believe AT) are easier. They from what I have seen are only turned on with the line power. Don't give up on your supply. I am pretty sure someone can let you know what to do to get it to turn on! I could probably figure it but I do not know off hand. I have MANY supply's that don't have that feature so I don't have to worry about working around it.

Cyclops?
O.K success I had a faulty supply managed to get another one and after a bit of fiddling the panel fired up. (real easy to short two wires together). Now next question I have a VGA slot with Cyclops on it? One with computer 15 pins and a weird S-Video slot doesnt look common? Which one do I hook up to computer 15 pin? Cyclops? S-Video.I,m so close now I can feel it.Also do I need a special video card or will my PC card suffice its a late model HP.

I am assuming you have a Proxima panel? The video is were I originally started on this thread. Proxima used a 25 pin (looks like a printer port). Here is a link to a post on this tread that should answer your question. You can ether follow the treads links to hook up info or contact the Cableman "Skywayfiles2" and he makes a real nice product for a good price.

Sorry Mgmopar yes it is an 810 so is S-Video not an option I,m in Australia so Skyway,s cables no good way over here.I,m worried now as I,m not sure how to make up my own.HELP someone
Slick69
I can't tell you if S video is an option for you or not. I here the VGA style hookup is better. Anyway,LOOK AT THE LINKS I POSTED for you. Hook up info is already out there.
I am not sure without contacting him but for extra charges skywayfiles might ship to you. The link to the first post will goto a post that shows the cable hook ups for the Proxima to VGA. So if you had to, you can make it. I made my first adapter cable using the hookup diagram.. And later, had skywayfiles make me up a nice adapter for what I was doing. (He does a better soldering job then me!) I belive he is also set up to test his Proxima cables before shipping.

I know I,m a pain but the 15 pin connections relate to the socket on the 810. 1 being top left? and the other end for the computer just matches up?Mate I,m lost I need some visual to grips with what I should be doing.
Does the 810 have a VGA 15 pin plug ?
slick69
I do not have a 810 panel to look at, I am only going by what cable problems of the 810 I have heard of. I have a promxia projector with the plugin I wrote of earlier. If you have a 15 pin looks and lines up like a VGA, Myself I would assume it is a VGA? VGA extension cables can be ordered male/male of female/male ends or Mate adapters can be ordered if the gender is different. Someone step in if they know of the plug slick69 is speaking of. I hope if this is the case (Does the 810 have a VGA 15 pin plug?) with the 810 I did not confuse the issue to much.

Its a 25 pin female socket and my computer has a standard 15 pin socket.I think you can get a adaptor? Least I hope you can as I need clearer instructions if I have to make one.😕
O.K I have the bits I need to make my own VGA cable now I assume all I need to do is follow the pin and colour codes. But one thing I dont get is** VGA Cable Pin connections
15 Pin HD Signal Description 25 Pin RS232

2 Green Analog 2
3 Blue Analog 3
7 Green Return 14,15,16
10 Sync Return 11,10
13 Horizontal Sync 13
14 Vertical Sync 12
I have 15 pins for the pc end this shows 7 and the numbers on the side were it says 7 green return what does the 14,15,16 correspond too?Does this mean you loop these together on the 25 pin plug?
*sigh* will I ever get there

Don't go by color codes. Too many cables use a different shcemes when it comes to color coding the wires, so what you need to do is use an ohm meter and determine what color wire goes to pin 1 and so on.
If you have at least 14 wires in your VGA cable, use all that you can using this pinout instead.

Not all wires are really needed, but I don't want to go into that right now, but since not all vga cables are create equal, not all wires or pins will be present, were there is a will there is a way, but the above pinout will make sure your system will detect the cable and work corrrectly.

Thanks again but does this take into account that I,m making my own cable from scratch. Also does the original pin out you supplied mean the numbers on the left are looped or not.I,m probably making this more confusing than it should be but I like to get it right first time

If you mean shorted together when you say looped, the answer is yes, loop pins 14, 15, 16 together and loop 10 & 11 together, but if you have 14 seperate wires in your VGA cable, solder each wire to each pin number I have supplied. This simply will guarantee the cable to work, but if you want to do the loop way, make sure to ground pin 24 to the metal sheilding on the 25 pin connector. That's an ID bit that will tell your system a cable is connected and ensure that it will work correctly. It's not really an art, just some patience is needed. I build them for a living and like to use as many wires available in the cable. Out of 130+ cables, not one has been defective. You learn what you can get away with real quick.

I,m about ready to pack it in.........HELP AGAIN

Hi Slick69
I am not sure what screen resolution your panel requires, but if your computer is only two years old and your running a older panel it is very possible the default settings on you commuter is too high. Do a search for your panel's specs and see what it can handle. I think many older panels were like 800 x 600 or something close. Your computer is most likely set to something like 1024 x 768. This may be your problem. You would go into display settings of of the control panel on your computer to change this setting. Also, you may need to get threw a menu of sort on your panel to set it to the correct input.
