Interesting I think I get what your saying there but I would have thought if I hooked up to the monitor out put of my TV that I would get a display much like a Camcorder? COMPOSITE OUTPUT/INPUT, S VIDEO OUTPUT, COMPOSITE INPUT
Thats what the player has.The input is switchable if I have it on input you can see the inbuilt menu screen for the player but no picture unless I put a dvd in but the reason I cant is that its faulty and wont load DVD,s hence the $20 pricetag. If I switch to output I can see the picture but it rolls. To disable the original signal output wow sounds a bit over my electronic skills.

Just curious have you tried another input source? Some dvds are encoded and effect the form of the signal sync. I have no idea where this would decoded in your unit. Try using a broadcast or cable signal (just for testing) If this eliminated the roll, at least we are narrowing things down a bit.

Well tried everything I could today hooked up to different sources TV,DVD,VCR inputs outputs still rolls. The thing is that I have allready had one of these portable dvd players but a smaller version and I hooked that up to my TV before I stripped (and killed the lcd) it was fine this is the same thing but with a wide screen just cant understand it.Even tried a power source with more current output today.I would think maybe a LCD problem but the menu screen is crystal clear and doesnt roll until I switch to output.

I am out of ideas and I have never worked with a combo unit screen. I would say it would be best to find a thread with this type of traffic. Maybe someone out their knows what is up but is not looking at the proxima cable forum. It is possible something is wrong with the unit. Maybe even try searching manufactures web site and cust service. After all you are still at the point that manufacture tech would help you with it. (you know it really isn't apart when you talk to them. I think I would tell them it plays dvd's ok but only if they asked otherwise just let them know your source input-output problem. Tech departments are sometimes hard to get info out of if they realize you are using equipment for something other then it was made for. Good Luck.

Maybe put a update post or something here so we know what is up.
