as with everything, what you're going to do is result of several compromises
this amp is SE all the way from input to output
are you going to attach xformer in front of this amp, and use it as Bal to SE converter device, or you're going to convert from Bal to SE somewhere (else) upstream, that's your choice
it's possible to do the same in preamp itself, or - as you wrote - in between preamp and amp
now, if we look at amp (SB) and it's Rin, it is possible to use 10K nominally xformer - which is easier to drive with preamp, but in that case I would increase R1 to 1Meg and R5 to 330K, ref. to schm in post #4
if preamp is of sort with proper Cojones, then regular repeater xformer ( nominally 600R jobbie) could be used, then no changes in amp
