Enjoying my recently acquired Redux amps - For fun I lengthened the standoffs and added 6” acrylic mirrors (sourced from Amazon) for a ”black hole” undercarriage view.
This is really embarrassing! When I saw the photo of the Redux with a mirror I thought “Geezus, the guy drilled a mirror with over 100 holes and mounted the components through it into the PCB? And what if the metallic layer shorts something out?”
Then I thought “And how does it get cooled by the heatsink?”
Finally: “oooooooooh I get it now, I’m an idiot! “
Fraidy Cats like me, worry that longer legs mean higher center of gravity, which means greater probability of getting knocked over and scratching or denting the tabletop.
Yeah the current! , and I’m quite sure it isn’t easy to flip. I’ve had it in my hands and it’s quite solid feeling when on a table.
To avoid scratches you’d be better off focusing on some soft feet screwed into the standoff “legs”
