Bill, think of a word we electronics hobbyists use to mean "make a quick-and-dirty modification as a temporary expedient" -- most often, adding a wire on the reverse side of a PCB by tack-soldering onto the pins of existing components. spoiler: that was my 3rd guess and it got four letters of the solution exactly (green) correct.
