Dual Rail Power Supply for Power Amplifier

Here are some pictures of the Power Supply that CRT and myself designed for use with the F5T and F6Convertible design. It is meant to be both compact, have adequate capacitance, and be able to use the recommended MUR3020W or similiar diodes. They are 2mm thick boards with 3OZ copper thickness.

Boards measure 108mm wide x 192mm long. The diode boards are 35mm x 54mm each.

The diode boards break off, and include room for Snubber cap and resistors. Here we see two different types of Wima .01uf caps being used. Both have 5mm diameter pins.



To save space, one large resistor is used in the power supply. This is a 10W .1R resistor.
Also not the jumper between the scoring on the board is to be used for use as a dual rail supply. Optionally, V- rail can be flipped over and used as another V+ supply.



The LED indication lights are present, here with a 11K resistor. The Positive Anode goes to the small round pad, the negative to the square pad.

The bleeder resistors are present to drain off capacitance once the source is turned off. One can hard wire or use optional 2P and 3P connectors as I did. I used different colors to denote what is ground and not.

Important: Notice the jumper wire at the backend of he power supply to make a common ground. This needs to be jumpered by you in order to make it a dual rail supply. It is there optionally in case you want to flip over the supply on right and use two positive rail supplies.

Here I show two different types of Panasonic 22000uf caps mounted the one on the left is the 10mm pitch, the one on the right is the 4 pin version. Both tested and fit
Here is a live action shot. I didn't have a full set of the larger 22,000uf 50V caps that I would recommend for a full blown amp. So I used some smaller ones, fed by a 15V source. This tests the diodes and the Power Supply.
