efficient SPL tops DIY

i have no amp yet, but i am looking at 2 used skytec pro 1000 right now though, i could use one for my subs, 1000wrms bridged 8 ohm. and one for my tops, 2*500wrms in 4 ohms. i should probably get something with slightly more power though, my subs are rated 1200wrms

I get you're on a budget but skytec is about the cheapest crap you can buy and none of them do rated power. Running 4 subs and 4 tops at high volume all day you really want something a bit higher quality. Thomann TSA 4-700 could be an option, CH 1+2 with two subs each in parallel and CH 3+4 with two tops each in parallel. Probably not a lot of headroom left over on the amp but the built in limiter on the TSA is fairly decent. Also make sure to set limiters on the DSP.

Huge setups. 2x12” ain’t cutting it. 4x12” is okay, but by no means is it impressive. It’s all about showing off
So show off with four 4x12” dummy cabinets...

It may be counter intuitive but the wider you make a cluster of driver the narrower the coverage, the ideal driver stack is a single tall line but that type of speaker system is not always the best solution.
The math if interested in controlling directivity:

Horn mouth/baffle polar frequency: c = 10^6/(a*b)

a = wall angle in deg

b = mouth width (or height) in inches

c = -6 dB frequency

metric = (2.54*10^6)/(a*b) in cm

a new idea was brought to my mind

fullrange 12" drivers! no tweeters or XO needed!

any thoughts about this one? seems like it has good efficiency and can take 250wrms
or, i could build TWO 4*12" with these: https://www.thomann.de/se/the_box_speaker_122808a.htm

efficiency is on the lower side, but with 8 of them it would be great. and they are cheap + it would look extreme. i could slap a single 2" driver on top of them, that should be enough

If you are a good builder and follow the plans exactly with the correct parts then the DIY kit will likely be the better speaker.

The Behringer does have some good things going for it. It's already done and ready to go, has speakon connections, mounting points, handles, and a warranty. Plus the cab is built to take some abuse and be weather resistant. And it might keep some resale value.

Normally I would not recommend the Behringer to this crowd due to the less than great response, but in your case, cheap and loud is exactly what the Behringer is good at.

I would focus your energy on building the subs. Bass is usually what impresses people.

btw i just got this amp for my subs on the used market: https://www.thomann.de/se/t-amp_ta2400.htm

yes, the resale would probably be better on something 'off the shelf'. maybe i can find some tops on the used market

i'm just thinking. let's say i go for 4 behringer tops. that's 600 euro.

for that price i could get almost 8 of these: https://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=FANSOV12-250TC

i also got a quote on these, 32 of them for 350 euro!: https://www.brl.se/sv/artiklar/madpm164.html

honestly, i think 32*6.5" would be loudest, don't you think?

32 of the orange driver would be the loudest and probably have the look you're after. The concern would be how long they can survive playing at max spl on a hot day. Running them all full range will have some bad sound problems but if you just want super loud at the expense of everything else, then it should accomplish that.
